The All Mixed Up cartridge is a font cartridge designed by Cynthea Sandoval and it has a very fun and playful character to it as it is derived from doodlebugs. The font is totally readable but is almost childlike in appearance and includes lower and upper case letters of the alphabet, some punctuation, a few ready made wrods and also some symbols. The words that are ready made are ones that crafters will find very handy when carrying out their paper craft projects.

This unusual font is often used for special occasions such as pajama party invitations, baby showers, children parties and really any other child orientated special event. However that does not have to limit you and how you use it as it can be used for much wider ranged crafts, decorations and scrapbooks. Use bright colors for the children’s events and perhaps try a combination of neutral and more even colors for other more adult projects. It really is down to you the crafter and artist to adopt this font in whichever manner suits your crafting style.

Current users of the cartridge have added ideas to how you use it. Play around with the orientation of letters, rotate them to use them as a different letter or symbol, reverse letters here and there to add to the style of the theme of your project. If the project you are using this cartridge on also has pictures or drawings in it use crayons to add to the charm and childlike feel. It will also help add texture to it.
How you lay the cutouts when it is put on the paper also affects the impact the work has and think about size. The size of the wording is important so that it complements and enhances the rest of the work rather than being too small to be significant or too big and overpowering it. Of course the purpose of the wording can affect its sizing too; you want a title to be clear and bold while a photo commentary needs to be more subtle so that the scrapbook is not overtaken by just wording.

As well as the font the All Mixed Up cartridge has a few other creative features such as square, circle, tag, shadow, shadow blackout and silhouette. This means you can create variations of the lettering and wording perhaps combining styles to get a layered effect. Using colors to make the font more bold, or to keep it neutral will also enhance the effect the final completed project has when viewed.
