Enthusiasts of scrapbooking use the Cricut cutting machines and cartridges to create more memorable pieces of work with the addition of titles, borders, shapes and lettering. There are over seventy five cartridges available with more coming out soon and so the opportunity to get creative is wide open. In order to decide what cricut cartridges are worth adding to your cricut machine collection look at your own personality. If you prefer decorating with shapes that narrows your choice to the shape cartridges, with one or two font ones. If you are a word person then choose font cartridges with one or two shape ones.

If you are still very young at heart there is the fantastic licensed character series that include Disney cartridges such as Winnie the Pooh (my personal favorite), Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell and Pixar Cars, and other children favorites like Hello Kitty and Sesame Street. Or if you are a teacher or work in education, there are the Classmate cartridge line featuring fonts, words, shapes to help in the classroom. They are for both using in lessons and for adding to display work. As well as letting your preferences guide you, have a look at what are the popular cartridges amongst other scrapbookers. Talk to crafting friends and check online on message boards and such.

When buying at retail prices a cricut cartridge usually costs around ninety to a hundred dollars. But there are ways to save money. For example the Solutions cartridge line sell for half that money, great for crafters on tight budgets. You can also shop online – eBay in particular has a lot of deals to be found. I have found cartridges there for as low as five bucks!

Alternatively swap cartridges rather than buying them. Have a crafting party where friends come along with cartridges they do not use often or at all and swap with each other. Or do a temporary swap where you get to use a cartridge you have wanted to try for a couple of weeks before you all swap back!
