With more than 75 cricut cartridges and more being made regularly it is very hard to actually collect all cartridges because of the cost it involves. Ranging from fifty to a hundred dollars it would be expensive and pointless if you are not going to use them! So rather than feeling unsure on what to buy have a think about what kind of crafter or artist you are so that you buy cartridges that will suit your style.
Font versus Shape
If you enjoy using different font and lettering to create phrases and wording in scrapbooks and around photo albums then concentrate on font cartridges and have a basic shape cartridge. If you like playing with shapes, layering and illustrating then look more at shape cricut cartridges and have one basic font cartridge.
Child projects – For them or by them
If you are making something for a child or they are doing the crafting themselves then there are cartridges that are perfect for such times from the licensed character series. Big Bird from the Sesame Street series, Hello Kitty, Mickey or Winnie from Disney cricut cartridges and many others.
Working on a Budget
As mentioned, retail price for cartridges range from $50 to $100. If you are working from a budget go for the $50 range which are the Solutions cartridge line. Also don’t impulse buy. Plan what you want and look for sales or special deals in crafting shops and online.
Teachers
If you are a teacher or work in education there is a great set of cartridges just for you called the Classmate line and they are a fantastic teaching resource. Saves you time and money.
As you can see choosing a cartridge or a selection of cartridges is something you need to think about unless you have a lot of money spare! Do not expect to have a great cartridge selection straight away as it is something that takes time to build up. Also take advantage of crafting friends and when you need a cartridge you cannot yet afford borrow it!
