Cricut Design Studio is the latest release from Provo Craft and is a piece of software you will come to love if you are a cricut cutting machine owner. The software adds a whole new world to you design and crafting opportunities whether you own the original or the Expression. All you need to do is plug your cutting machine into a USB port on your computer and then install Cricut Design Studio. The software is simple to understand and navigate and offers a huge variety of design opportunities and creative effects all on one piece of software.
The wonderful thing about Cricut Design Studio is that it will let you customize and blend images from any of the cartridges you own, to create one unique design. Using the computer means you can plan the design before you even slot in a cartridge! The opportunities are amazing and only limited by a person’s imagination. Weld letters together, enlarge or shrink pictures, stretch, flip, rotate, put it on a diagonal. If you are interrupted you can save your design and then return to finish it another time.
Once you are happy with it put in the first cartridge that is needed and push a button. Once the machine is done with that one and needs the next it will let you know. Also final designs can of course be saved so you can reuse them, or even share them with other crafting friends.
Design Studio also gives you a chance to look at all the designs in the whole Cricut resource bank, even if you don’t own the cartridges they are on. It is just a matter of using keywords to look for a certain shape or phrase so you can see if it would look good in your project. So now you can make a more informed decision on whether to buy certain cartridges or not. You can plan your design and save it until you get the required cartridge to cut it out.
Design Studio is not compatible with Macs, it works with Vista or Windows XP. But apart from that it is well worth the purchase!
