If you are already an owner of a Provo Craft Cricut Cutting machine and you have a computer, you will love the latest release from Provo, Cricut Design Studio software. This adds a totally new depth to your crafting with Cricut whether it is the original you own, the Expression or the Create. Using a USB port you plug in the cutter to your computer and then install Design Studio software. The software is simple to use and you do not need to be a computer genius to be able to utilize the creative effects it offers.
Basically Cricut Design studio lets you combine images from any cartridge and create a unique image of your own. You can plan out your design before you even load in a cartridge. Weld letters, expand or shrink shapes, rotate, flip, stretch or put an image on diagonal are all creative functions you can design with. If you need to go feed the kids or walk the dog and you are not done, save what you have so far and come back to it later. When your unique design is complete put in the first cartridge and push a button and of it goes. When the cutter needs the next cartridge it prompts you to change it. Once you are finished you save your work and are able to share your designs with whoever you want. There is a board on the Cricut website where users exchange design files.
You can even design with all cricut cartridges that have been released whether you own them or not. Using a keyword search feature to look for images or letters you desire. You can create designs for the future and then when you are able to purchase the necessary cartridges you can have it cut out.
Unfortunately Design Studio is not compatible with Mac, the software only works with Windows XP or Vista. Obviously you can only use the software where there is a PC, though if you are a laptop owner this is not a restriction. Let the creativity begin!
