The Home Decor Cricut Cartridge is to be used with the cricut cutting machines. The cartridges for this great cutting machine usually come with a theme so that you get a lot of design choices for that particular project. There are some cartridges though that are more general and less specific, having a little of lots of different occasions all on one cartridge. The cartridge focused on in this article is the home decor one and it has a decorating theme useful for finishing touches on decorating projects.
On this particular cartridge there are fifty images, forty of which are shapes and ten are meaningful words which are; create, love, forever, explore, simplify, memories, hope, miracle, beautiful and adore. The script of the words is beautifully graceful with swirl accents. The forty shapes with a variety of flowers and birds, butterflies, bees, ladybugs and dragonflies all of which would make lovely embellishments to a project. There are other shapes that are symbols that are popular too such as a crown, star, chandelier and the Fleur-de-lis.
The shapes can be taken from neutral to more detailed by using different trimmings and colors. For example to turn the star into a Christmas star use red paper and glitter! Or cut the heart out in different sizes and shades of red for a Valentine’s project. It is up to the artist to see the potential of the cartridge and use it according to what projects they have and their own creativity.
The shapes could be a wonderful border for scrapbooks, or if having a fully decorated border is over the top, have a border just on the sides or the top and bottom. Also if there is a lot of text in the scrapbook, perhaps from samples of songs or verses of poetry, why not use a symbol like the fleur-de-lis to separate them or used at the start and/or end of text. Use them as part of the labeling for pictures and photos to add detailing and illustration to captions.
